A French court has sentenced anesthetist Frédéric Péchier to life in prison for the poisoning of 30 patients, including children and adults, between 2008 and 2017. Péchier, 53, who worked in two clinics in the city of Besançon in eastern France, was found guilty of attempting to discredit his colleagues. The judge, Delphine Thiberg, stated, «You will be imprisoned immediately.» The youngest alleged victim, a four-year-old boy named Teddy, survived two cardiac arrests during a routine tonsillectomy in 2016. A total of 12 victims died despite resuscitation attempts.
