Members of the French Senate are discussing a proposed law aimed at banning bullfighting and bullfighting with roosters in the presence of individuals under 16 years old to protect them from harm. At the same time, the likelihood of its adoption is low, as the bullfighting industry positions itself as a manifestation of freedom and the preservation of traditions. Representative of the organization 'La Embistida' from the Bouarg region in southern France, Cristina Banul, claims: 'Every child and their parent should be given the right to choose.'
A five-decade-old woman believes that the proposed law is aimed at the destruction of bullfighting, adding: 'If we stop passing the values of bullfighting to our children, then in the future they will refuse to attend bullfighting, and this tradition will end.'
In the majority of countries where bullfighting is legal, children are sometimes allowed to attend fights with adults, but there are cases of prohibition; for example, in the Spanish province of Galicia, minors under 12 years old are prohibited from attending bullfights.
