France Sends Humanitarian Aid to Cuba

The French association CubaCoop has sent 30 cubic meters of medical supplies to Cuba to combat the effects of the U.S. blockade. This is not the first such act of support from French organizations.

France has sent humanitarian aid to Cuba. Lyon, March 21 (Prensa Latina) – The association Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) loaded this week in the city of Lyon a container with 30 cubic meters of medical material to help the Caribbean island deal with the tightening of the U.S. blockade. The entity, with 30 years of work in economic cooperation with Cuba, particularly decentralized, received the support of the French Popular Aid and the local Lions Club organization to prepare the cargo, which is scheduled to arrive in the Antillean nation in early May. In the solidarity container, post-operative material stands out, due to the impact of the U.S. blockade on the health sector, one of the most affected by the escalation of hostility from the administration of President Donald Trump. Washington has increased in recent months its attempt to strangle Cuba with an oil siege, which has prevented the entry of hydrocarbons. In addition to this container with a cargo valued at 150,000 euros, CubaCoop is promoting a project to bring tens of tons of powdered milk to the island's children and most vulnerable population, with several shipments already made. The Cuban ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, thanked the new initiative and all the people and organizations involved in its materialization. He also denounced the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the United States has applied for more than 60 years and described the ongoing crusade in the energy area as barbarism.
