Courbis was born in Marseille and dedicated his life to football, becoming one of the most famous voices in French sports media. The former defender played for many clubs, including Olympique de Marseille, Ajaccio, Olympique Lyonnais, and AS Monaco, before moving into coaching. He coached clubs such as Bordeaux, Montpellier, Stade Rennais, and Ajaccio, as well as Marseille, which he led to the 1999 UEFA Cup final. The radio station said of Courbis: 'He expressed his passion through his Marseilles accent and his direct approach with listeners'.
