Bernard Arnault, the richest person in Europe, filed a lawsuit against the social network "X," owned by Elon Musk, demanding compensation for the use of French newspaper materials without consent or financial compensation. In the lawsuit, filed with the newspapers "Le Parisien" and "Les Echos," supported by the luxury goods empire LVMH, which Arnault heads, European regulations are required that grant media rights to obtain income from digital platforms distributing their content.
"Arnault's decision to file this lawsuit came after a court ruling in Paris in favor of the French newspapers in May of last year, when the court granted these newspapers the right to financial compensation from the platform "X," - the publication reports. According to this publication, "X" refused to start negotiations with French publishers, unlike other companies such as "Google" and "Meta""Facebook," which expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue.
It is planned that the first hearing in the case will take place in Paris in May of next year, where it is expected that the opposition between Arnault and Musk, two of the world's wealthiest individuals, will attract public attention. At the same time, Arnault's wealth has decreased to 36 billion dollars this year from approximately 171.5 billion dollars due to declining demand in China for luxury goods.
