Celine Dion to Return to Stage in Paris in 2026

Celine Dion will return to the stage in the fall of 2026 for a series of concerts in Paris, the city where she last performed in 2024. The star, who suffers from a rare incurable neurological disease, last performed there. This return explains the mysterious posters that began appearing across the French capital on Monday, featuring titles of some of her greatest hits like 'Power Of Love' or 'Pour Que tu M’aimes Encore', according to the French newspaper Le Parisien. The dates for the concerts, which would be held at La Défense Arena (with a capacity of 40,000 spectators), will be announced soon, according to sources cited by that French newspaper. The Quebec newspaper La Presse also reported on this information, predicting two concerts per week between September and October next year. This would be the first time Dion, 57 and from Charlemagne (in Quebec), has returned to the stage since her performance on the Eiffel Tower singing Edith Piaf's 'Hymne à l’amour' on July 26, 2024, one of the highlights of the opening Olympic ceremony. That appearance was also highly anticipated, as the year before she had to cancel her Courage World Tour due to severe problems caused by the rare neurological disease she suffers from, Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), which affects her nervous system and causes spasms. The two-time Oscar winner and multiple Grammy winner must undergo intensive work to control her muscles—including to perform daily tasks like walking—and the complications also affect her vocal cords. She showed the intricacies of that struggle in her 2024 documentary, 'I Am Celine Dion.' SPS, about which there is very little scientific research, is a disease that very few people in the world have and that causes the feet and hands to become rigid over time, to the point of not being able to move them. Her last major solo concert was in the spring of 2020 in New York, as part of a tour that had to be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that could not be resumed due to Dion's health problems.
