On Thursday evening in Paris, an international conference on Syria took place, attended by representatives from 20 countries, including G7 countries, the European Union, the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. The meeting was chaired by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, also discussing the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The conference's overall statement emphasized the necessity of supporting the ongoing process initiated by the transitional government of Syria in its ambition to fully satisfy the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity, as well as to build a free, inclusive, united, sovereign, stable, and peaceful Syria, fully integrated into its regional and global environment.

"We underline the importance of the success of the transitional period within the framework of the process that should be implemented according to the Syrian initiative and be owned by the Syrians," the conference's statement said.

Participants also expressed the need to establish state institutions and reconstruct the military and law enforcement structure of Syria to ensure the safety of the Syrian people.

The conference also voiced support for the proceeding of the National Dialogue Conference, announced by President Ahmed Al-Sharaa on January 30, with the participation of all segments of Syrian society and representatives of the Syrian diaspora abroad.

Participants expressed support for strengthening humanitarian assistance for Syria, noting the importance of supporting efforts for recovery and reaffirmed the central role of the UN in these efforts.

"We call for the establishment of a Group for Supporting the Transitional Process in Syria to ensure a permanent dialogue, support for strategic coordination between the international community and assistance to the Syrian people in realizing their legitimate aspirations," the statement said.

Participants also expressed their support for the efforts of Syrian authorities to uphold human rights and freedoms for all Syrians, emphasizing the need for continuous cooperation to achieve long-term peace and stability in Syria and in the broader region.
