PSG Faces Potential Penalty for Homophobic Chants

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could face a strong sanction due to homophobic chants during the match against Racing Strasbourg in the eighth round of Ligue 1. Despite the 4-2 victory that kept PSG at the top of the table, controversy arose in the stands with incidents that could have serious consequences for the club.

The ultras, known for recent violent episodes, led homophobic chants and acts at the Parc des Princes, directed at Olympique de Marseille, before the classic match on the next date. Despite attempts by stadium staff to calm the situation through the loudspeakers, the response was limited, and now the French Professional Football League (LFP) will take action.

In an official statement, the LFP categorically condemned the discriminatory and homophobic chants by PSG supporters, highlighting that despite previous efforts to eradicate such behaviors from the stadiums, the situation persists. The LFP's disciplinary committee will analyze the case and take measures regarding it.

The Disciplinary Committee will meet soon to determine the possible sanction against PSG. The club will have the opportunity to present its arguments on October 30, facing the seriousness of the acts of the ultras against Olympique de Marseille, their president, and his family.
