Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the French Super Cup, their first title of 2026, in a penalty shootout after equalizing with Olympique de Marseille (OM) in the 95th minute thanks to a goal from Gonçalo Ramos, in a frantic final held this Thursday in Kuwait.
The Parisian goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, was key to the capital team's new success, both in the shootout, where he saved two shots, and in the 90 regular minutes. PSG, led by Spanish coach Luis Enrique Martínez, thus achieved the fourteenth French Super Cup in its history, further cementing the Parisian club's dominance in the French landscape.
Following their memorable 2025, in which Parisians won six titles, including the coveted Champions League, PSG sweated much more than expected, although thanks to Luis Enrique's tactical moves (he brought on Ramos and Bradley Barcola), they managed to steady the match as the final seconds ticked by.
Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring in the 13th minute, a goal equalized from the penalty spot by the Englishman Mason Greenwood in the 76th. Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Désiré Doué scored, while Rulli failed to stop any.
2-2, m.95: Gonçalo Ramos.
Penalties: PSG won the shootout 4-1.
Referee: Thomas Léonard.
PSG, as it did less than a month ago in the Intercontinental Cup against Flamengo, showed more composure. Frenchman Lucas Chevalier, booed by Parisian fans, helped make people forget Russian goalkeeper Matvei Safonov (the PSG hero in the shootout against Flamengo) by saving two penalties, from O'Riley and Traoré. The capital side missed none.
He showed yellow cards to Højbjerg, Weah, Aubameyang, and Medina for OM; and to Zaïre-Emery for PSG.
Incidents: French Super Cup final played at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait.
