On Sunday, a hospital in Toulouse, in southwestern France, was thrown into alert after a man arrived at the emergency room with a projectile lodged in his rectum. The medical team discovered the object and called a bomb disposal unit. According to a source, the man told the staff at Rangueil Hospital that he had inserted it himself. The surgical team found a nearly 20-centimeter-long collectible projectile from World War I. Fearing a possible explosion, they decided to call the bomb squad. Emergency services in Haute-Garonne also confirmed that firefighters had been dispatched «to ensure fire protection during the bomb disposal team's intervention». The explosive device was ultimately neutralized.
