Gaël Faye Returns with 'Jacarandá' Novel

The Franco-Rwandan Gaël Faye, author of "Small Country", found inspiration in the mauve flowers of the jacarandas and in the silence that still surrounds the persecution of the Tutsis in his family to write his second novel titled "Jacaranda".

Faye, in addition to being a rapper and songwriter, reveals that he was motivated by personal experiences and family secrets to delve into this story. The novel addresses the silences and the consequences of the genocide in Rwanda, exploring deep and painful themes that marked the history of the African country.

In his own words, the author expresses: "I write to break the silence". With this literary work, Gaël Faye seeks to give voice to that which has been silenced, offering a moving and reflective look at a dark chapter in Rwanda's history.

"Jacaranda" promises to be a novel that delves into the open wounds of a genocide that left a deep mark on Rwandan society. Through the sensitivity and mastery that characterize Faye's pen, this literary work is expected to awaken consciousness and generate reflections on the devastating consequences of violence and silence.
