The new Netflix movie "The Werewolves" is inspired by the card game "The Werewolves of Castronegro", created by the French Philippe des Pallières and Hervé Marly. The plot revolves around a modern family who, after discovering an ancient card game, is transported to a medieval village where they must figure out who the killer werewolves are in order to return to their time.
Directed by François Uzan, known for his work on the series "Lupin", the film features a cast led by Jean Reno, accompanied by Suzanne Clément, Franck Dubosc, and Bruno Gouery. In the story, the villagers must unmask the werewolves before they finish off all the humans.
The movie combines elements of comedy, action, light horror, and the supernatural, reminiscent in some ways of "Jumanji". Inspired by the 1986 game "Werewolf", which is itself based on "Mafia", the plot of "The Werewolves" focuses on the dynamic of dividing players into villagers and werewolves.
"The Werewolves" is an adaptation of a popular card game that was launched in 2001 and achieved great success in France and around the world. Despite mixed reviews, the Netflix film aims to attract fans of board and card games.
