The President of France Emmanuel Macron and the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz confirmed their readiness to cooperate on key issues such as Ukraine and the development of relations with Russia.
Macron and Scholz held their first telephone conversation since Scholz became Chancellor. Both leaders emphasized the importance of close cooperation between France and Germany in addressing international problems.
"My first phone conversation with the Chancellor of Germany was pleasant and warm. It is important for the Franco-German partnership to promote our countries forward," Macron wrote on his page on Twitter.
In turn, Scholz also highlighted the importance of close ties between France and Germany in addressing current global issues and areas of cooperation.
"With France, we have special relations that have been built over many years. Our countries continue to work on strengthening dialogue and cooperation in the international arena," Scholz stated after the conversation with Macron.
