The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, expressed concerns about a potentially ‘capitulatory’ world for Ukraine, raising the question of whether his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin is ready for a ‘secret’ permanent ceasefire. Macron called Russia to end the war in eastern Ukraine and the blockade of the situation in Crimea. At the same time, he stressed the readiness to continue dialogue with Moscow.
He also noted that France has an urgent need to maintain dialogue with Russia, regardless of the objective complexities. Macron expressed hope for Russia's active participation in the constructive work on recognizing Europe as a politically independent actor.
