
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and his American counterpart Donald Trump attempted to diminish the rift between the USA and Europe.
Macron held phone conversations with Trump, proposing to strengthen international efforts to combat harmful substances. The leaders also discussed other issues including the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and climate change.
"The solidarity of our countries is real and more necessary than ever. We must now unite our forces to tackle the important challenges of the world," said Macron.
Both leaders expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation between the USA and the European Union.
