France Announces New Military Aid Package for Ukraine

French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth €200 million, funded by revenues from frozen Russian assets. This move comes as the U.S. halts arms deliveries to Ukraine, which Lecornu describes as a 'heavy blow' for Kyiv.

France Announces New Military Aid Package for Ukraine

French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated in an interview on Sunday that France intends to provide a new military aid package to Ukraine totaling around 200 million euros, the means for which will be taken from revenues from seized Russian assets.

"This year we will present a new aid package thanks to revenues from seized Russian assets totaling 195 million euros," Lecornu said. He noted that the US decision to begin supplying weapons to Ukraine is described as "a strong blow" to Kyiv.

Lecornu also pointed out that this allows Ukraine to obtain 155 mm caliber shells and ammunition for Mirage 2000 aircraft, which it received from France. However, he warned that "This is a message about our readiness to support Ukraine, making our partner (Russia) think before continuing the offensive."
