French Civil Servant Accused of Drugging Over 240 Women During Job Interviews

French authorities have revealed the identity of a civil servant accused of drugging more than 240 women during job interviews for government positions to satisfy a bizarre obsession. According to "The Guardian," the employee, Christian Negre, gave the women a drink laced with a diuretic during their job interviews for human resources manager positions at France's Ministry of Culture, knowing it would cause them to urinate. The interviews were often conducted outdoors, long distances from restrooms, where many women felt nauseous and were forced to urinate in public, sometimes on themselves. During a court hearing, previously reported in French media, the court heard that he kept a record on his computer of what he called "experiments P." The spreadsheet contained detailed logs of the women's reactions, as well as apparently secretly taken photos. The charges against Negre, who is in his 60s, span nine years and have been winding through French courts for a similar period. In 2019, several charges were brought against Negre, and in 2023, a judge ordered him to pay compensation to seven alleged victims, ranging from 11,000 euros (about $12,000) to 16,000 euros (about $18,000) each. Another investigating judge has continued to probe the case, with the number of identified alleged victims more than tripling in two years. The newspaper reported that the diuretic said to have been used was so powerful it could only be obtained illegally in France.
