French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced on Wednesday that the country will open a consulate in Greenland on February 6 in a concrete gesture of support for the island, while the United States repeatedly promises to take control of it. In an interview with French radio RTL, Barrot stated that Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, does not want to be the property of the United States, nor to be governed or integrated by this country. He also emphasized that the island has chosen to remain within the framework of Denmark, NATO, and the European Union, according to a Xinhua report accessed by Noticias Argentinas.
