French President Emmanuel Macron warned on Wednesday during a cabinet meeting that violating Greenland's sovereignty would lead to "unprecedented consequences." This came after the U.S. president promised to annex this autonomous Danish region. "We are not taking lightly the statements regarding Greenland," Macron said, according to government spokeswoman Sibylle Marquet. "If the sovereignty of an allied European state is violated, the consequences that will follow will be unprecedented. France is following the situation with the utmost attention and will take a position fully in solidarity with Denmark and its sovereignty."
