Portuguese specialist Paulo Fonseca has been appointed as the head coach of the French club Lyon on a contract until June 30, 2027. This information was officially confirmed by the sixth club in the French football championship table.
Paulo Fonseca (51 years old) was dismissed from "Milan" at the end of December and moved to "Lyon" following the departure of Pierre Sagnol. The club announced that the decision to appoint the Portuguese specialist was made within the framework of striving to return "Olympique Lyon" to high ambitions at both the national and European levels.
"Lyon" is in sixth place in the Ligue 1 table with 30 points, and after a recent match against Bulgarian "Ludogorets," which ended in a draw with a score of 1-1, the club unsuccessfully advanced to the round of 16 of the Europa League. In this match, Paulo Fonseca followed the game alongside the club's president along with the team owner, American John Textor.
