France Endures Longest Stretch of Rainy Days in 60 Years

France's national weather service announced on Wednesday the longest stretch of rainy days in the country since records began in 1959, after 35 consecutive days of rain. The service explained that the period, from January 14 to February 17, saw heavy rainfall that caused flooding in several areas. The period could extend further with more rain forecast. A man was reported missing on Wednesday after his boat capsized in the Loire River, and water levels continue to rise in four western French departments placed under a red alert, a situation feared to worsen with the arrival of Storm Pedro and high tides. Along with France, other European countries are currently experiencing harsh weather and floods, particularly Portugal where the bodies of a couple in their sixties were found on Wednesday inside their car in a flooded area.
