As a result of two separate incidents in the French Alps, five skiers died, local media reported.

One Swiss skier died in an avalanche in the Val d'Isère area.

According to reports, a group of seven skiers was outside the specially marked trails when four of them were caught in a snow avalanche.

In the Savoy region, also in the French Alps, four Norwegian skiers died in the La-Sinya area, according to the newspaper "Le Dauphiné Libéré" and the TV channel TF1, with a reference to local authorities.

At the site of the incident, three bodies were discovered, and a woman was airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble, where her death was later announced.
