A renowned surgeon with over three decades of experience, Joël Le Scouarnec, is being tried in France in relation to sexual assaults. The indictment document mentioned 299 victims, mostly men. Cases for 85 of these victims have been requested to be dismissed citing the statute of limitations.
In small notebooks, the accused meticulously recorded the atrocious acts committed against hundreds of minors during his time in hospitals where he worked. The investigation began after a girl accused him of inappropriately touching her near her home. Upon searching the doctor's residence, dolls representing children were found, some with inserted dildos.
Of the 299 victims, only 14 were over 20 years old at the time of the abuse, and the majority were under 15 years old. Le Scouarnec meticulously documented his crimes, including names, addresses, and descriptions of events. Authorities discovered aberrant behaviors, including sadomasochistic and zoophilic practices.
The accused, born in 1950, faces charges of rape and abuse of over 300 minors throughout his career. Law enforcement found "black notebooks" with handwritten pedophilic narratives dating back decades in his home. His home contained wigs, photographs related to child pornography, and hard drives with thousands of files of extreme violence.
During the trial, Le Scouarnec admitted his involvement in the abuse of 114 identified victims, although the original text was requested to be paraphrased. The doctor expressed remorse before the court, acknowledging the irreparability of the wounds caused to the victims. Despite his understanding of the pain inflicted, he tries to take responsibility for his acts of rape and sexual assault.
