Macron Condemns US and Israel Military Operations Against Iran

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that US and Israel's military operations against Iran violate international law and lack Paris's approval. Nevertheless, France is taking unprecedented measures to protect its interests in the region, including deploying the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier and additional forces. Following an attack on its base in Abu Dhabi, France has also initiated a repatriation operation for its citizens from conflict zones.

Macron Condemns US and Israel Military Operations Against Iran

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran have been carried out "outside of international law" and therefore do not have the backing of Paris. This stance places France in a "third way" position, prioritizing containment and the defense of European assets over the all-out offensive led by the Trump administration. Despite his rejection of the offensive, Macron has ordered an unprecedented movement of forces to protect French interests and regional security, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. In this context, the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle was sent to the Mediterranean after interrupting its military exercises in Sweden. Additionally, the frigate Languedoc and additional air defense systems were deployed to the island following the attack on the British Akrotiri base in Cyprus.

Attack on French facilities in Abu Dhabi Tension escalated last Sunday when the Minister of the Armed Forces, Catherine Vautrin, reported a drone attack on a hangar at a French naval base in the United Arab Emirates, adjacent to a local base in the port of Abu Dhabi. Although only material damage was recorded, the incident underscores that European assets are already in the line of fire.

Repatriation operation France is joining the urgent evacuation effort already initiated by the United States. Macron announced that the first two repatriation flights with French citizens from conflict zones will land in Paris tonight.
