The U.S. president harshly criticized the left-wing Spanish government on Tuesday for refusing to allow American aircraft to use military bases in the south of the country in its war on Iran, which began on Saturday. The French presidency stated: "The President just spoke with Prime Minister Sanchez to express French and European solidarity in response to recent threats of economic pressure targeting Spain".
