In the French Alps, five skiers died in two separate incidents, local media reported. In the Savoy region of the French Alps, four Norwegian skiers perished in the Val-Cenis area, reported the newspaper "Le Dauphiné Libéré" and the TF1 television channel, citing local authorities. The group of seven skiers was outside established routes when four of them were caught in an avalanche. Three bodies were recovered from the site of the tragedy, and a woman was airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble, where her death was later announced. In a separate incident at another mountain resort, a Swiss skier died as a result of another ice avalanche. The newspaper Le Figaro reported that the skier was traveling with her father and brother when the avalanche occurred, with the father leaving as the brother was taken to the hospital for medical examination. Local authorities in the Haute-Savoie region warned of extreme danger from snow avalanches. A 55-year-old British skier also died in the Monblan area on Tuesday following an ice avalanche.
